Our 2022 Recipients

The Hixon Family

Don Hixon passed away in January leaving behind his wife of 21 years, Tammy and his 6 children, Trey, Leta, Elizabeth, Isaac, Quintin and Trenton.  Don graduated from Seneca Valley High School in 1995, and his teaching career started at Portersville Christian School, then moving to Penn Christian Academy, Western Beaver School District, and finally Farrell School District.  He loved music, serving at Bright Hope Community Church, farming, working with Sing Hosanna Ministries, and working with PMEA.

The Kovacic Family

Jose Kovacic is an amazing, beautiful, kind and fun loving 9-year-old girl with a wonderful family including her Mom Traci, 7-year-old brother Calvin, 3-year-old sister Sydney and her mom's significant other Matt. She also has 3 sets of doting grandparents that love her immensely. Tragically, on Feb. 27 of this year she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. While skiing with her Grandfather, uncle, brother and cousin she was hit by an out-of-control snowboarder and was actually dead on the slope.
Miraculously, through swift intervention of her grandfather's friend, a nurse who happened to be on the slopes and the ski patrol she was revived and transported to Children's hospital. There is was determined that she had what was described as the worst injury possible to her neck as he bones connecting the skull to the spine were separated. She underwent a spinal fusion to stabilize her spine and spent 30 days in the PICU at Children's. While she does have a traumatic brain injury, she is blessed to not have any paralyzation.
She has since been at the Children's Hospital Rehabilitation unit where she is receiving therapy to help her to regain her basic skills from walking to getting dressed and everything else we all take for granted. She will require extended therapy and treatment to regain her ability to swallow and speak.

Friends Helping Friends Benefit & Bean Bag Tournament was established in 2007 to help a friend in need. The event was such a success that we decided to make it an annual event and help others.

Ever since our inception 16 years ago, we have been able to make a positive change in the lives of numerous families in Southern Butler County.  We have raised in excess of $225,000 which has gone directly to the local families.

This year’s Bean Bag Tournament will be held at Callery Baseball Field, on Center Street & Mars Evans City Rd. Evans City PA 16033 on June 4th 2022.  There will be cash & prizes to win, a Chinese auction, a silent auction, and a Raffle drawing. The winners will be drawn the day of the Benefit.

This year’s corporate sponsorship form can be found on the link above under sponsors.  Your donation can be made in the form of a check and returned in the envelope provided or by going to www.wecanhelpfriends.com to pay with Paypal.  Any items that you can donate will go towards our Chinese Auction which 100% of the monies raised will go to the local families in need.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to partner with our organization for raising funds. If you have any inquiries regarding our organization or the project itself, please feel free to contact us at fhfbenefit@yahoo.com.
